How to Convert PNG to JPG for Free (No Quality Loss)
Convert PNG images to JPG right in your browser — free, fast and private. Also works for WebP, AVIF and HEIC. No signup, no upload to a server.
PNG is great for logos and screenshots, but the files are large and some websites only accept JPG. Converting between them is simple, free, and takes seconds — no software to install.
PNG vs JPG — which should you use?
- JPG is best for photos. It compresses them into small files, which is why upload forms and email prefer it.
- PNG is best for graphics with sharp edges or transparency — logos, icons, screenshots.
If a form rejects your PNG or the file is too big to email, converting to JPG usually solves it. Want the full picture on formats like WebP and AVIF? See our guide to image formats.
Convert in three steps
- Open the image converter.
- Drag in your PNG (or several at once).
- Choose JPG and download. It converts instantly and the file never leaves your device.
The same tool also converts to and from WebP, AVIF and HEIC, so you can turn an iPhone HEIC photo into a universal JPG just as easily.
Watch out for transparency
PNG supports transparent backgrounds; JPG does not. When you convert a transparent PNG to JPG, the see-through areas turn white. If you need to keep transparency, stay with PNG — or if you want to *remove* a background cleanly, use the free background remover first.
Shrink it further after converting
If the JPG is still too large for an upload limit, run it through the image compressor to hit an exact size like 100KB. For photos this usually cuts the file dramatically with no visible difference.
Tips
- Converting PNG → JPG makes photos much smaller; converting JPG → PNG does *not* improve quality.
- For print, keep the highest quality setting.
- Batch-convert a whole folder at once to save time.
